About the Director  


Bert Lundy is the founder and director of Learn for Excellence, a startup education company.


From 1988-2014, he was with the computer science department at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
There he taught graduate classes and conducted research in several different aspects of computer and telecom networks,
such as formal models for protocol specification and analysis, protocol testing, military applications, and network economics and policies.


He has written numerous technical papers on network protocols, testing of communications, and other technical topics.
He has also written a book on the history of telecommunications. Book


From 1981-84, he was a software engineer in Dallas, Texas.
He also speaks Spanish.  

From 1977-81, he was an officer in the US Army, primarily at Ft. Ord, California.


He has a Ph.D. in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology,
an M.S. in computer science from the University of Texas at Dallas,
and a B.A. in mathematics,  minoring in history and German, from Texas A&M University.

He is an active sportsman, enjoys hiking and running. He has climbed Mt. Whitney,
the highest peak in the lower 48 states, and has completed numerous marathons,
half marathons and races of other distances.

He is married, has four children, one grandson, and lives in northern California.
